As one of Britain’s leading distributors of the hire, sale and servicing of portable toilets throughout the North of England and South of Scotland, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operation and Logistics Planner to join Border Group Ltd on a fixed term basis over the busy summer events season.
Job Role
As an Operational and Logistics Planner, you will play a critical role in the coordination and execution of the company’s logistics operations. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless movement of goods, timely delivery, and efficient resource allocation. Your strategic planning and problem-solving abilities will help streamline processes and improve overall operational efficiency.
As part of your role, you will also be expected to use our vehicles to make deliveries to customers when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement efficient logistical plans for the movement of goods, ensuring timely deliveries and optimal resource utilisation.
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and transportation teams to create cost-effective and scalable logistical solutions.
- Monitor daily operations to identify potential issues and proactively implement solutions.
- Analyse data and performance metrics to assess logistics operations and identify areas for improvement.
- Optimise inventory management processes and ensure stock levels are maintained to meet demand.
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and vendors to schedule shipments and resolve any discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards related to transportation and logistics operations.
- Generate and maintain reports on logistics performance, cost analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Work closely with the management team to forecast demand and adjust plans accordingly.
Job Criteria
The ideal Operational and Logistics Planner will have the following skills and experiences:
- Previous experience in a similar role or industry (desirable).
- Good communication.

Contract Type – Fixed Term (1st March 2026 to 30th September 2026) with the potential to become permanent depending on performance and business needs.
Working Hours – 37.5 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Occasional weekend availability will also be required.
Location – Woodlands Industrial Estate, Brampton Road, Longtown, Carlisle, CA6 5TR.
